From Coach Sanzone Congratulations to the Marshwood Indoor Track Team who competed in the Class A State Championship Monday at USM. The boys team finished 3rd overall and the girls team finished 4th, both were the highest team finishes in program history. Both teams were also selected as the recipients of the MPA Class A South Sportsmanship Awards. Boys Team Recap: The boys crowned two state champions -- Isaiah Perodin in the 55 meter hurdles and Andre Clark in the 200 m dash. Isaiah also finished 2nd in the Long Jump and 3rd in the Triple Jump, while Andre was 2nd in the 55 dash and anchored the 3rd place 4 x 200 meter relay team, which also included Landin Napolitano, Braeden Gagnon, and Micaiah Perodin. Landin also won the bronze in the 400 m dash, while Micaiah finished 6th in the 55 hurdles. Shayne Sandler rounded out the Hawks scoring with an 8th place finish in Pole Vault. Girls Team Recap: The girls were led by rookie sensations Anna Jennings and Sydney Leveille, who both medaled in all three of their events. Anna was 2nd in the 55 dash and the Long Jump, and 4th in the 200 m dash. Sydney was 4th in the Long Jump and Triple Jump, and 6th in the 55 dash. Riley Smith finished 4th overall in the Pole Vault while fellow captain Maya Sanzone made the podium twice, finishing 8th in the 1 mile and the 2 mile races.

The Marshwood/Noble/Traip/Sanford Knighthawks beat the Portland/South Portland Rangers 6-2 in Portland on Monday. The Knighthawks led the whole game, with Shane Cullity scoring on yet another beautiful end to end rush to open the scoring. Travis Cole had his first goal of the season in his second game back from a pre-season injury. Emmett Hammond had a hat-trick. Connor Lentz stopped 27 out of 29 shots for the Knighthawks. The Knighthawks next game is on Wednesday 2/12 @ Windham/Westbrook/Bonny Eagle, 6:10 pm at USM Gorham. The Marshwood/Noble/Traip/Sanford Knighthawks lost to the Falmouth Navigators 3-2 in Dover on Friday. The Knighthawks took a 2-0 lead with goals from Emmett Hammond and Drew Vessels. Brody Langella assisted both goals. However, Falmouth scored 2 power play goals in the second to tie it, and the game winner with 2:05 remaining in the 3rd. Connor Lentz stopped 30 out of 33 shots for the Knighthawks. The Knighthawks next game is on Saturday 2/1 against Lake Region, 5:30 pm in Dover. Knighthawks Record: 7-5-0
