Hike Through History for Pre-K
The 27th Annual Hike Through History will be a new and different experience this year for Central School's Pre-K students. The hike is being brought to them in their classrooms. Some of Mrs. LaPointe's seventh-grade students designed original and creative Hike Through History Boxes based on this year's hike theme Changing Times: Work-Then and Now. Each box presents a trade or job from the past that is still connected to the present day. The following students collaborated to make the very unique trade/job boxes: Quince Anderson, Amelia Halverson, and Kate Starkey -Farmer; Sophia Bogh, Annabelle Getchell, and Ashlynne Hichens - Teacher; Mabel Emery and Zora Nobel-Tavern Keeper and Stage Coach Driver; Lucinda Cox, Ozzie Gilbert, and Sophia St. Cyr-Writer; Lucia Blanchette and Eva Ducey - Baker. The boxes contain a variety of items such as stories, songs, games, coloring activities, crafts, and snacks for the Pre-K teachers to use to teach their students about the trades of the past and jobs of the present day. The seventh-grade students were enthusiastically engaged in this learning experience for the month of May as they learned how to design lessons for young learners.
