We The People
Marshwood Middle School's We The People program is back! The students have been learning about the Constitution, and are busy preparing for the state and national virtual competitions, held in early April and early May, respectively. The group is looking at higher-level questions about the Constitution, ranging from where the ideas about government came from to whether the Constitution protects all citizens equally. In a simulated congressional hearing, the students will put their knowledge to the test as they compete against other students in the state, and all over the country.
Next month, the group will travel to Augusta to look at the State House, Maine First Amendment Museum, and Maine Holocaust Museum to support their learning with hands-on experiences. This year's group: seventh-graders Sophia Bogh, Zoe Carnes, Luci Cox, Ayden Day, Annabelle Getchell, Lucas Glidden, Brody Leighton, Sophia St. Cyr, and Hannah Tuttle, and eighth-graders Danielle Chapman, Savannah Chapman, and Sabine D'Aran. The group is advised by Grade 7 teacher Mr. Rowe.
