It is scary how fast October went by this year!
In October our core value was fairness. We ended the month with a Vocabulary Parade and a celebration of our students that demonstrated fairness. Congratulations to Calvin Sheehan-Kopp, Ashley Coleman, John Segit, Skyra Letellier, Lilla Etter, Anders Claesson, Jackson Lambert and Calvin Grondin for modeling fairness throughout the month.
In addition to our focus on Fairness, through our BARR program, Social Studies teachers taught a lesson on kindness and encouraged students to complete small acts of kindness. These lessons fit in well with our preparation for our annual Veterans Day assembly.
Jermaine Moore spent a day at Marshwood Middle School working with a group of students to build up leadership skills. Sixth, seventh and eighth grade students did some group work discussing the power of influence especially in middle school. Students also worked with Mr. Moore on cultivating empathy and we finished the day with a pledge to make MMS a kinder place!
Also this month, teams of teachers worked together to decorate pumpkins for our Mystery Pumpkin activity sponsored by the Student Council. Take a look at the pumpkins, can you guess which team made each pumpkin? The fun doesn’t end with mystery pumpkin, students also had a digital pumpkin decorating contest through their Social Studies classes.
Through student council students participated in a virtual pumpkin decorating contest. Congratulations to our winners!

The cafeteria staff brought the fun to our lunchroom on Halloween with a biohazard theme. The cafeteria staff dressed the part in hazmat suits and adorned the cafeteria with spooky decorations and caution tape.
October really was a busy month full of fun! We are ready to take on November and our new core value of gratitude.
