SOUTH BERWICK, Maine — Luke Howarth and Aaron Wolfang came in as part of the coaching staff of the Marshwood High School wrestling program in the fall of 2021.
That same season, two freshmen joined the program — Jack Anderson and Cody Bubier.
Three years later, both Anderson and Bubier will have their names added to the historic Marshwood wrestling 100-win banner that hangs in the school gymnasium.
“Definitely, a proud moment as a coach,” said Howarth, a former Marshwood wrestler himself who got his 100th win in 2013. “It was great to see them both get their 100th win this year.”
Howarth said both Anderson and Bubier are role models for all that is involved in the Marshwood wrestling program.
“The two of them really show the rest of the kids in the room what it takes to win,” Howarth said. “It takes hard work, taking (the sport) seriously, and having that desire to win.”
Anderson, Bubier join the club
Both Anderson and Bubier will be recognized at the end of the season when their names are added to Marshwood’s 100-win banner. Currently, there are 46 names on that list, dating back to 1990. The last two to accomplish the feat were Sean Moriarty and Zach Mercier in 2020. The five-season drought between wrestlers to reach 100 wins is the longest in program history.
