All 2nd grade classes, which included the students with Mrs. Arbelo, Mrs. Ames, Ms.Jones and Mrs. Hudson/Ms.Phelps as well as students in the 1st grade classes of Mrs. Darling and Mrs. Trulock were excited to take part in an experiment to attempt growing herbs inside the school under grow lights.
Each class visited Mrs.Joy at stations with pots, soil, seeds and water.
Potted live herb plants added a fun sensory experience as well.
Students learned about herbs, uses for them then planted parsley, cilantro and basil seeds.
These citizen scientists will continue their interaction with this project as they water, observe germination and hopefully see the seedlings grow and produce herbs for use in the cafeteria!
Thank you to all the teachers for their flexibility in scheduling time for students to participate in this project!
