A Continuing Story: Good Neighbors and Friendship in the Heart of South Berwick
In November of 2022, Central School neighbors Bill and Layla became friends with the students and staff at Central School.
Bill and Layla, his beautiful Golden Retriever, love their home on Young Street in the Avesta Apartments.The 28-unit apartment complex is perfectly located between the South Berwick Library and Central Elementary School and its Outdoor Classroom.
have been reading with Bill and Layla for several years. They visit him and he and Layla come to Central School to visit, too.
In October, Mrs. Wyatt’s students walking to the Hoop House when Bill called them over to pick up pumpkins he had for them. He asked them to decorate the pumpkins and later add them to the patch. That’s just what they did.
Students happily decorated their pumpkins and returned them to Layla’s Pumpkin Patch for all to enjoy.
